I have attached to this post a documentary called "Mountain Talk," which illustrates and explains the origins and elements of mountain speech without denigrating it along the way. "Mountain Talk" is set in the mountains of western North Carolina. The film was created by the North Carolina Language and Life Project, which was established by North Carolina State University in 1993. The film can be purchased here.
